MPC 1:72 Millennium Falcon / Stellar Envoy

Before there was the Millennium Falcon, there was the Stellar Envoy! Briefly seen in Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith, landing on the surface of Coruscant. The Stellar Envoy was in a way made canon by Hasbro and F-Toys who created small toys of the ship. My model is a blend of the 2 companies and some of my own creative liberties. 7:14 You're using your cutters wrong -- IF you have good flush cutting shears, you can carefully cut parts from the sprues only once. Once cut from the sprue, you may (or may not) have only the smallest of residual "nubs" to sand off, it depends on your skill and well, giving a damn, but the cutters (I use Xuron) can cut parts off completely flush especially if it is a piece with flat sides. You just created extra work for yourself because you cut twice, then filed then sanded. That's 3-4 steps per piece. Then there's people in the comments whining about the parts count and the "tedious" roadwheel assembly process and I can't say I blame them. I'm just here for the Tamiya motorized model portion. Good show.

I think might want to try the Tamiya Mark Fit Strong solution under the decal to completely wet the surface and act as a setting solution, wait a little and then roll the decals out with a Q-tip (cotton bud) to press the decal down to remove trapped air. After getting the decal placed, then apply Tamiya Mark Fit super strong solvent on top. As I understand it this two solution process is more what Tamiya seems to have had in mind. The bubbles you got in your test are trapped air and working it out before applying the solvent is very effective at reducing that problem in my experience.

I tried to reply to your reply, but it will not let me. Here is my reply to yours: @rebelsatcloudnine , wow! You are WAAAY ahead of me on this! Thank you for your feedback. One can build a B-17E variant from the Hong Kong Models 1:32nd-scale B-17E/F kit; that one also ought to serve as a test bed or template to convert HK's 1:48th-scale B-17F kit or Revell's 1:72nd-scale B-17F kit (04279) to a B-17E variant. I just saw something: Scale Modelling Madness in “Revell 1/72 B-17F Memphis Belle (Part 1: Kit review and interior build” says that this Revell 1/72 B-17F kit is erroneous to make a Memphis Belle replica. See his post for more.

G’Day Rebel. If you’re not fussed on painting it then you cn build this in one evening(maybe two). The fit of parts is such that you dont need any glue. However, there are seam lines and mold likes that need attention if you want to do a nice looking model. The weight of the wings won’t break the swivel connectors and there isnt much up and down swivel. If you paint the cockpit black with some dry brushing you barely see the second row of seats. Pay very close attention to the wings and their connectors- once the connectors are clicked in place you will not get them off. The landing gear can be up or down - if up you have to use the display stand. And as for colours I believe the instructions are wrong with AK number. Its not a pale desert sand. Personally I went with a neutral grey/dark green mix for a colour thats almost the same colour as the plastic. Otherwise its a total blast. You will need a shit load of shelf space to display this beast with wings spread. Cheers 👍

Just a small tip for you regarding the masking fluid. I'm a Watercolour Artist as well as a modeller, in watercolour before using any masking fluid we gently scrub our brush on a bar of soap before dipping into the fluid, this helps protect the brush bristles making the brush last longer. You may already know this, but I'm sure if not for you it maybe useful for others. Lovely build and props for the work on the tires that must have taken some time

Is your secret for your alacrity that you lot are clones?-albeit from a galaxy far, far away? Or Canadian Star Trek fans?) Round 13:50, you mask the aluminum-painted cowl and nacelle prior to painting the bright blue. Yes, I long have wondered the same thing about the notion of ADDING silvery paint to a subtractive process as paint chipping.
